Every great place has a story, and Rossco's begins long before the doors ever opened. It's a story shaped by family, by land, and by a simple idea passed down through generations: that good food and good company are what really matter. Long before Banyo knew the name Rossco's, it was already taking shape — in the kitchens, the paddocks and the shared meals that came before it.
WHERE IT
ALL BEGAN
Rossco, Stuart’s late father, grew up in the heart of North Queensland cattle country, where life was shaped by theland, the seasons and the people around you. He believed in honest produce, feeding people well, and the simple idea that some of life’s best moments happen around a table. Those values stayed with him — and they stayed with Stuart too.
Years later, Stuart and his wife Jackie found themselves drawn to that same way of living while travelling through the Mediterranean: long lunches, good wine, generous food and plenty of time around the table. Somewhere along the way, the idea for a place of their own began totake shape — one that brought together everything Stuart had grown up with and everything he and Jackie had come to love.

the Banyo
Rossco's grew from a family property on Tufnell Road and a belief that a local restaurant should feel genuinely local. We want to be the place Banyo comes to for week night dinners, family celebrations, Friday catch-ups and the moments in between - a familiar table, a warm welcome and a team that knows the neighbourhood it serves.
ROOTED IN OUR COMMUNITY
This place has been part of the Garbutt family story for more than 40 years, and today Rossco's keeps that connection alive by employing locally, buying from Queensland producers where we can and supporting Banyo community groups, schools, and sporting clubs, because for us, community is not a line in the brand story, it is the people who fill the tables and the neighbourhood we are proud to call home. Drop in for a quick lunch, settle into the beer garden for an afternoon drink, stay for dinner or pick up woodfired pizza on the way home — there is always a place for you at Rossco's.
